It’s… A… Musical [Dealer]

I’m Caden Marshall, but you may know me as “The Musical Dealer”. As an influencer, actor, and ASL Interpreter from Chicago, I’ve turned my knowledge of musical theatre into a platform where I discuss the state of theatre and provide exposure to hidden gems of musical theatre under the handle “@TheMusicalDealer”.

My quest for knowledge has led me to delve into the lesser-known works of musical theatre, collecting data, and identifying patterns to become an expert in the musical theatre canon. I love to provide a voice for marginalized communities within the theatre space and affiliate myself with works that challenge traditional norms and create inclusive spaces.

My passion for new works has helped me establish myself as a reliable resource for guidance on all things musical theatre. I document the shows I learn about in an ever-growing set of Google Drive documents that are consistently updated and available for everyone to view.

I chose the title “The Musical Dealer” because I want to help people discover new musicals that they can passionately enjoy, and because I want under-celebrated/under-resourced artists to get the exposure they need.

You could imagine me standing on a theatre district street corner with an open trenchcoat, revealing obscure musical theatre albums to whoever approaches. I want my voice to turn these hidden gems into cult-followed hits, and I’ve already made that impact for musicals like Islander, Ride The Cyclone, and The Clockmaker’s Daughter.

As TikTok’s Musical Dealer, I am bringing new heights to the idea of accessible art. With carefully curated spreadsheets, a devoted following of thousands, views in the millions, and hundreds of show recommendations under my belt, I am harnessing the power of the digital algorithm to connect theatre fans with undersung shows.

My recommendations hold weight within the theatre community, and one only has to glance at the comment section on any of my videos to see a vibrant, thriving community of theatre fans whose horizons broaden each time I post a video.
